Are you usually short on time? Or perhaps lacking a space to exercise? Or maybe you do not feel ready to commit too much to a gym equipment? Then a kettlebell might be just the answer you are looking for. Kettlebell Express Workout targets all the main areas while keeping things simple. All you need is one kettlebell!

Kettlebells have really gained popularity over the recent years. Their versatility and ability to build lean muscle, improve core strength and posture make them excellent addition to any workout. They are classified as free weights. This means that they strengthen larger muscle groups which leads to a more balanced result than what individual machines at the gym can achieve. For this reason they are great if you want to maximize benefits of a short workout. Additionally all kettlebell exercises improve a grip strength. Grip strength is considered as one of the biomarkers that are commonly measured, especially in connection to aging. Stronger grip usually means better health overall.

Kettlebell Forward Lunge

Kettlebell Forward Lunge focuses on large muscle groups of legs, such as quadriceps and hamstrings. Along with that it also engages your glutes. This means that this exercise helps you achieve nice toned bum.

How to do:

Start by standing with your feet hip width apart. Hold a kettlebell in your right arm alongside your body. Keep your back straight and engaged throughout the exercise. Step forward with your right foot and bend your right knee in a lunge position. Your right knee should be at 90° angle. Push yourself back up. Repeat on the other side. Alternate.

Kettlebell Russian Twist

Kettlebell Russian Twist is perfect for building your core muscles. This helps achieving core strength and stability. It might help you reduce lower back pain.

How to do:

Start by sitting on the floor, bend your knees and hold your feet slightly above the ground. Hold the kettlebell with both of your hands in front of your chest. Lean 45 degrees to the right by twisting your torso and move the kettlebell to the right hand side. Remember to keep your core and glutes engaged whilst performing the movement. Twist to the other side and repeat.

Kettlebell Squat

Kettlebell Squat is one of the best exercises to include in our routine. It helps a range of motion and hip mobility. This is even more important as we age and our mobility tends to reduce making it harder for us to stand up from a chair. Except for hips, kettlebell squat also improves our core and quadriceps strength. With the effect it has on our grip strength it is without doubt one of the most effective exercises to keep us healthy for longer.

How to do:

Start by standing upright with your legs placed shoulder width apart. Hold the kettlebell in front of your chest with both hands. Take a breath and slowly squat down whilst keeping your core engaged. Focus on achieving a low squat. Hold for a moment. Slowly raise yourself up to the initial position. Repeat.

Kettlebell Sit Up

Kettlebell Sit Up is a great exercise to strengthen glutes, hamstrings, core, back and shoulders. Strong core reduces back pain, stiffness of spine and hips and improves posture.

How to do:

Start by lying on your back whilst holding kettlebell with both hands close to your chest. Sit up by engaging your core and contracting your abdomen muscles whilst keeping the kettlebell by the chest. Move back to the original position. Repeat.

One Arm Kettlebell Press

Kettlebell press is a low impact way to engage muscles in the whole body which promotes overall strength. Nevertheless it primarily targets deltoids, triceps and upper back.

How to do:

Start by standing tall and keep your core engaged. Hold the kettlebell in your right hand alongside your thigh. Raise the kettlebell above your head and straighten your elbow. Pause and return to the starting position. Alternate using the other arm. Repeat.
